INTEL NUC

Influencer Kit

Intel sought to promote their 13th Gen Next Unit of Computing (NUC). An influencer kit was needed not only to make a great first impression—it also had to hold a computer and be shippable to tech enthusiasts and gamers the world over.

Previous generations of the Intel NUC had been much smaller. A cute little turned-edge box wasn’t going to cut it—durability and shock absorbency were essential to house something of this size. What’s more, this box would also have to be of a scale and gravitas that influencers would want to record themselves unboxing this product.

I worked with the Project Manager, a Traffic Manager, an Engineer, and my Creative Director to determine what level of customization we could achieve that would meet drop test, specs, stay within the budget, in line with our capabilities, and meet our project milestones in a timely fashion.

I drew up sketches for an internal presentation deck suggesting ways the computer could be packaged. I then measured a NUC. An off-the-shelf hardcase was found that fit the envisioned aesthetic and could be purchased in bulk. That done, a way to make it bespoke was imperative.

The solution was applying designs printed directly to matte black panels and adhered to the hardcase. A stately gold vinyl was applied for a pop of color.

I created artwork for the kit and shipping container from scratch—the client had no 13th Gen specific artwork for this roll out. A technological skull icon had been employed in the past, so that guide the art direction. Building off of the products “Raptor” moniker, a bird of prey was created in that style.

It’s been extremely rewarding to see people receive this influencer kit!
